It is through the arts that the student learn to appreciate cultural differences and similarities, gain self-confidence through public performance and exhibition, and find satisfaction through self-expression. Our Fine Arts programs allow students to explore their creative nature through specialized instruction in music instruments, visual arts, choir, drama, orchestra, pantomime, hand bells and more.

Depending on the discipline, there may be growth opportunities for both individual expression and collaboration that build self-esteem and social skills. Research has shown that students who apply themselves in the arts perform higher academically. The curriculum reflects the diverse expertise of the fine arts faculty.

Teachers share the value placed upon the learning process. As students create, interpret, adapt, or perform, they use critical and reflective thinking to plan, make choices and find their own voice. Beyond this, the Fine Arts program incorporates assemblies and workshops, which bring the enriching experiences of musicians, actors, dancers, and studio artists to the students at Oakview. There are also field trips to theaters, museums, and other venues during the school year.
