Students' Awards

Student recognition is an important component to any quality school program. At Oakview students have the opportunity to receive various awards, recognition or induction into national clubs based on their academic accomplishments, improvements, commitment to school and community and deportment.  These awards or inductions are recognition of students who show outstanding academic accomplishments, leadership, behavioral or educational growth, involvement in school activities or demonstrate excellence in service to others in the school, home or church communities. The awards are meant to encourage and reward students who give their best effort, even sometimes in the face of special obstacles. 

Students can receive the following awards/recognition:
 

PRINCIPAL'S AWARD
This award goes to students who have all A’s during the marking period.

HONOR ROLL AWARD
Students who receive all A's and B’s during the marking period will receive the Honor Roll Award

MOST IMPROVED
The Most Improved award goes to students who achieved outstanding academic improvement in a marking period

SCIENCE FAIR AWARD
Each year the students of grades 2 to 8 participate in the school's Science Fair. Individual students from these classes prepare presentations, display boards or experiments explaining or supporting a scientific theory, concept or fact. Their works are judged by independent judges, and the student in each participating class, with the highest awarded points is the recipient  of the Science Award.
 
BIBLE BOWL AWARD

The school's annual Bible Bowl competition is an opportunity for students to develop a love for the sacred words of the Bible, and also develop their reading and memory skills. Students of grades 1 - 8 participate in this competition. In the first round, at the class level, students compete in the written Bible Bowl test. At the second level 

SPELLING BEE AWARD
Our annual Spelling Bee competition, conducted in each class, is designed to help students improve their  spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage which will help them all their lives. The student in each class who is successful at all levels (written, oral and finals) of the competition  receives a Spelling Bee award. 

NON-ACADEMIC AWARDS
Oakview recognizes the non-academic accomplishments of its students and values their efforts and contributions to its learning community and beyond. Non-academic awards are as follows:

GOOD CITIZENSHIP AWARD
This award is designed to recognize the student who consistently exhibits the kinds of behaviors we want to see displayed in our school and in our communities. This student is always prepared in class, has homework finished on time, always plays fair, is willing to assist with tasks, treats everyone with respect and exemplifies the desirable behavior we all want to encourage.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE
Students who have excellent attendance for an entire calendar year set an example for all other students to aspire to. Students who meet the standards for excellent attendance should be recognized for such a significant accomplishments and are thus the recipient of the Perfect Attendance award. 

INDUCTION  
National Junior Honor Society (N..J.H.S)
Each year students in grades 6 - 8 who meet the requirements may request induction into the school's local chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS); the nation's premier organization established to recognize and  to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.
